What is the better PC Recovery software? Acronis True Image or RestoreIT for pc recovery software?
Or is Acronis True Image as good as RestoreIT? Which one should I buy?
admin answers:
I just downloaded a popular, trusted one called Macrium Reflect, they have a good free version and a free trial of the full version, although you may only need the free. Google Macrium Reflect.

Laura asks…
I installed acronis 2009 and it created a hidden partition on my laptop. How can I delete the partition?
I un-installed the programme from my laptop thinking it would delete the partition but nothing happened.System restore failed to help me.I don’t know if formatting would help.
Does anyone know where roxio back on track stores instant restore bakk information so that I can copy the hp initial restore point from another ersons laptop?
admin answers:
This happened to me and I had to wipe out the hard disk to get my partition back.
I then reinstalled Acronis, but this time I did NOT activate the Acronis Secure Zone. That is what creates the hidden partition that you are talking about.
The only thing that I did create was the Acronis Bootable Media. That’s verrrrry important to have around if you have an emergency backup image of your system on an external HDD.
In defense of Acronis’ Secure Zone, it’s very quick to recover you in case of a disaster.
When I use the Bootable Media method, it takes about 30 to 40 minutes to recover.

Joseph asks…
Which version Acronis True Image backup should I get?
I’m getting Acronis True Image backup software as I don’t like Norton Ghost. ( I had a system failure once and Norton Ghost did not work like I wanted-lost files)
Which version should I get? Should I get the latest one or go with the earlier version?
admin answers:
How about this version ?http://www.downpanda.com/acronis-true-image-pro-119014.html or http://www.downpanda.com/acronis-true-image-backup-downloads.html to see more.
But I think the latest version is the best.
Good Luck.

Sandy asks…
How do I use Acronis True Image 2009 to clone a bigger hard drive?
I want to replace my current 80GB internal hard drive on my Dell Optiplex210L.
How do I go about Cloning my current disk onto a new 500GB internal drive, and remove my old drive and replace it with the 500GB drive?
Please I need fairly detailed instructions.
Thank you.
admin answers:
You’ll need the bootable disk to do this and an external hard drive to store the image. If you haven’t made it yet, now’s the time.
Proceed as you would for a normal image but back it up to the external hard drive (EHD).
After making you image, you will have to open your machine, replace the old drive with the new one, preferably, move the old drive into a another slot if you have one (and the cables and power supply to handle it) you can always just leave it there place the new in another slot and use the existing calbe to connect to the new drive, reconnect cables and close you computer.
Ensure your EHD is connected and boot from the bootable disk. Restore the image to the new disk.
Run the program and restore to the new disk, Acronis will see the different sizes and post a message about 80GB—>500GB or something like that, not to worry, it will fit it as it was.
Reboot, you should be good.
There is the odd possibility that you will have to initialize the new disk.
Don’t know if Acronis will do this or you will need the XP (?) Vista (?)
Disk to do this, Or, whatever your operating system is.
Oh, Acronis should be able to install a new disk BEFORE you Wipe the original disk. READ the help.
Cheers!

Mark asks…
Do I need a DVD burning software to use Acronis?
I’m thinking of buying Acronis True Image backup program.
I have several older computers with no DVD burnig capacity.
Do I need a DVD burner and a software to use this backup software or can I backup onto a CD or to an external hard drive?
I have 4 computers. Do I have to buy 4 software, or could I just buy one and use it for all 4 of my computers?
admin answers:
Nope, u don’t need a DVD burner.
You can back up your system on an external hard drive. You can back it up on a CD if it fits. You can create a boot CD, using Acronis, so that you can boot from it, point to the external hard drive where your backup is stored and restore your system.
Yes, you can use the software for all 4. I have 3 and regularly back them up with Acronis.
Edit: Once you create a Boot CD, all you have to do is go to the computer u want to back up (or restore), plug an external USB hard drive, boot from the CD, and choose whether u want to create a backup or restore it from a backup.
