Aircraft Component Repair Frequently Asked Questions

Carol asks…
Has anyone retired early and became full time RVers?
Was wanting to know your thought about the pros and cons of frist time Rving.
admin answers:
I sure would love to do that. Drive all over the United States.
But I can’t.

John asks…
What are the major disadvantages of owning a 5th wheel or trailer compared to an RV?
My wife and I are considering full time RVing. We saw a nice new RV for 70,000, than noticed that 5th wheel and trailers, which look about the same are MUCH cheaper. Obviously you have to tow the trailers, but what, if any, are the other disadvantages????
Thank You,
Brian.

The biggest disadvantage, as far as I know, is that you’re not traveling in your house. You’re traveling in a pickup truck. The accommodations in an RV for travel are splendorous compared to a pickup truck. You can take a big crowd along in an RV, and it’s huge fun. Not so fun in the pickup. This may not matter to you. It depends on what you’re going to do with it.
Keep in mind, I’m not saying a motorhome is better – I’m just answering the question that you asked. Motorhomes have a longer list of disadvantages.
If I was going to leave my camper parked all the time, I’d rather have a trailer. If I was going to travel all the time, I’d rather have the motorhome.

Susan asks…
When moving into a new place, what room do you furnish/decorate first?
It seems I must be a kitchen person … the kitchen is about done, although the bathroom right up there with the kitchen as far as decorating is concerned. It’s not like the bathroom doesn’t already come “furnished”. The rest of the place seems to take more time and consideration. No wonder I liked full-time RVing/traveling more than this settling in for the winter thingy. Next year, I’m gonna keep the place when I pull up for our road trips and not worry about setting up house again.

I moved 27 years ago, and have lived in the same home since. Raised 3 kids here, and don’t plan on ever moving. The room I decorated, actually setup with everything that matched was the bedroom, but I furnished the kitchen first.

Lizzie asks…
Do you think you would enjoy being a full time RVer?
Fulltime Rving is the term used in the motor home & trailer world for people who live in a Recreational Vehicle.

At one time I looked forward to it, but becoming disabled before retirement put a damper on those dreams…I can’t drive very far at one setting now,so RV’ing is out!

Linda asks…
Best RV campground memberships?
My husband and I will be full time RVing soon and I was wondering what the best memberships are? We will be traveling the west coast this summer and I want the best deal for my money. Good Sam is cheap but they only save you 10%. I know the savings adds up. What other deals are out there?
admin answers:
Good sam, Woodalls, are all about the same. You can buy into Thousand trails memberships at around $3000. But to break even on the deal you really need to be into full time RV living. A real good deal is the national park pass saves you a lot when traveling to theses locations and a state park pass for California is a good deal too. What I did was look around at my favorite spots to camp and see what RV parks or memberships they affiliated with and bought into that since I knew I would frequent those the most. I also looked into Boon-docking web sites as there are a lot of low cost and free spots to stay in the RV.
Here are a few Yahoo Groups I find to be very helpful,
