The New FAA Rule: Facing Pilot Fatigue

Fatigue is a serious issue faced by many pilots, exceptionally commercial airline pilots. A 2006 study at Oxford University titled, “Prevalence of Fatigue among Commercial Pilots” found that “small-haul pilots have largely been neglected in studies of fatigue, sleep loss and circadian disruption made by flight operations, however anecdotal evidence from pilots suggests that with the increasing amount of low-cost air travel, commercial pilots working small-haul operations may be becoming seriously fatigued.” More information: Air Cycle Machines
